I've been looking at a few things (mainly MacTracker and the Apple Store site) and I'm not seeing any real differences between the 2nd and 3rd generations of the iPod touch. Are there any?
(Yesterday, the Apple store had some 2nd Gen iPod Touches in the Refurbished section, but they are now gone…)

mood: pissed off
Hi, quite literally 5 mins ago my ipod just randomly decided to shit itself. I was listening to music, skipped a couple of songs, and now it's just frozen. I was wondering if anybody knew what the master reset was at all? A mate told me ages ago when it froze like this that pressing the centre button and the play/pause button down at the same time reset it; I've been attempting to do so, but so far it seems to be doing...well, nothing. And I'm starting to get really peeved. Any suggestions?

Cheers.

Corrupt Shuffle?
  ipod - (blueeyedsuzie)

08:41am 14/12/2009
I recently purchase a new shuffle because I couldn't find my first shuffle I bought a few years ago. Last night I hooked the new shuffle to my computer, itunes explained that the brand new shuffle is corrupt. I restored it three times, after that I gave up.

I am thinking my computer just needs a reboot because before that I was trying to put a movie in my iclassic and that took a long time for that. Normally it would take less than five mintues.

Is my issue just needing a reboot for the PC, or do I actually have to go to one of the apple stores and have someone give me another one? It's still under warrenty, however one thing I did notice was when this corrupt display came up, the ipod itself wasn't register. Meaning it never went that far.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Thanks!

I had moved my iTunes library to an external hard drive so I could free up significant space on the internal drive... and about 45 minutes ago the hard drive was accidentally knocked to the floor. Now the hard drive is no longer recognized by XP and it makes a sound every four seconds or so; clearly, the hard drive pin is not reading the disc. The drive is out of warranty (of course), and unless I want to shell out $700, all the data on that drive is lost. (The only "critical" data was e-mail, which had also been moved to that drive to free up the internal drive, but even none of the e-mail is absolutely critical.) Since I really cannot afford the $700+ for data recovery, the questions I have then are:

1.) What would happen if I connect my iPod and try to transfer its music back to iTunes (once I establish a new library on the internal drive)? I do have an A/C charger for the iPod, so if I cannot transfer the music back to iTunes, at least I still have a way to recharge the iPod.
2.) While most of the music which was in the library was from my old CDs or can semi-easily get again, there was also a significant amount of music (plus some videos) I had bought from the iTunes Store. Is it possible to re-download all of that, even though some of those purchases were made up to 2-1/2 years ago?

Edit 12/18/09 -
I bought a new computer (which i needed anyhow), and when I connected the iPod, all the files on the iPod are still there, but only the items purchased from the Apple Store were transferred.  Any thoughts on how I can copy all the music from the iPod to a hard drive so that I can at least import that way into iTunes?

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

7:30pm - 11:55pm

Church
69 Kilmarnock Street
Boston, MA

Yes, we know it's a TUESDAY.

And we've heard ALL the excuses before, ad nauseum - it's a weeknight, and you suffer from that horrible disease, Dayjobia...or your controlling significant other *insists* that you head directly home from work, yada yada...

The fine folks in Sans Nomenclature request that you throw off all pre-conceptions and societal confines, down 9 cups of expresso, and come out for "dinner and a show"!

The Church of Boston (which most of you know, isn't a church at all, but fabulous rock club) has a WONDERFUL MENU. We're going to have dinner there before we go on stage, and we are inviting you to join us.

http://www.churchofboston.com/dinner_menu.php

We take the stage at 8 pm sharp, and share a bill with Jay Carey, Erinn Brown, and The Brooklyns.

Wow, what a lineup! You can even bring your mom (we like moms!)

$6 cover.
