mood: working
Hey dudes, I know at least several of you are photographically-inclined, but I'm not sure what your respective processes are for photos, so:

Who among you:
A) has post-processing and retouching Photoshop skills
B) has a good bit of spare time
C) would like to make a few bucks?

If you fit all of the above, hit me with some samples. I may or may not need you right away, but I suspect I'll want to have a couple of go-to resources for the none-too-distant future. And I'd *love* to give some work to a friend who could use it! Pay would not be awesome, but it would still be pay. :)

Also, I am free Sunday thru Tuesday next week. I will not be at work, and I will not have left town yet. I do have a bit of Christmas shopping to take care of, but I can plan that around other things. SO, let me know if you want to get together!

mood: curious
I was going to post about shoot day, but then I saw the image below on GFY.

On the day of the shoot, one of the other models held up this magazine cover, and proceeded to tell me that I look like her. And then she went to the guy who did my hair and said, "don't you think this kind of looks like her??"

I don't see it, but then, I've never really thought that any (quasi-)famous person resembled me at all. And I'm sure my opinion is at least somewhat skewed by this lady's relentlessly skinny body.

But yeah, I'm curious: do you agree that this person looks like me? Y/N

Drunken style!

mood: okay
I have to share this video because it is, for lack of a better word, SIIIICK:

(My Hero Master Chen is the drunken-style sword guy, and the spear dude is the school's new teacher, Master Jiang.)

Yeah, the demo was freakin' sweet. I think I'm dealing with performing better, and having an easier time not panicking after I make a mistake. I have no idea if this will also apply the next time I hit the competition floor, but it's a good sign.

Help Portrait was a fun experience, too. I could only stay for the first half of the day, but there were some very sweet families and freakin' adorable kids who came to get their portraits done. I think they got more of a variety of disadvantaged people as the day went on, but during the early part, it seemed like there were quite a few single moms. I'm always amazed at how single moms manage to make everything work, so I couldn't help but feel for them.

After the demo, I wound up helping with cleaning and prepping the garage-soon-to-be-bedroom for priming and painting, so that took a couple hours on Saturday and a bit more time masking on Sunday morning. It was nice to have something I could actually help with, though, because I'm clumsy as hell when it comes to construction-y things. And I'm *really* looking forward to just having the bloody thing done already, so Andy can move into it.

I also haven't talked about the photoshoot yet! Or anything else that happened that day, either. But I will soon... it was a good day!

mood: satisfied
I sure managed to have a full day. It was all good things, though, and I did not give myself a headache by spending hours and hours on the computer. Compared to that, going into work is going to be paaaaain tomorrow.

I will be back to my regularly-scheduled Life Via Internets tomorrow. (many thanks for the sweet comments about my video, you guys... yes, I read them all)

Also, I ate waaaaay too much today, but Beulahland mac-n-cheese? SO WORTH IT. A+++ Would Eat Again. ;p

Some of you already saw this in-person yesterday, but here are some of the student wushu performances. :) I come in around 1:50.

I kind of lost my footing in the middle there thanks to the slippy gym floor--not that you guys would know it, but *I* did ;p--but other than that, I am actually pretty pleased with this one. Yaaaayyy :D

Many, many photos to process today. Oof. More blather later.

(side note: I'd picked the soon-to-be-mentioned curtains to go with our other set of couches, but then Boy and Andy rearranged everything in the living and dining rooms, so the curtains are no longer coordinated with the furniture)

Boy: "I got these rugs from my folks, they might be ugly, but they're free."

Me: *unrolls one partway* "Looks like this one has these colored stripes going across it... actually, it's strangely matchy and makes the curtains go together with the furniture!"

Boy: "Cool, then we'll use this one. But of course, now you have to say it."

Me: "Uh? I don't know what you--"

Boy: "Lebowski...!"

Me: "...that rug really ties the room together, man!"

Yesterday was NUTS. But man, the event went really well! It didn't turn out to be such a great place for selling art prints--people seemed far more interested in the jewelry, clothes, and other wearable things--but we had plenty of folks coming to visit, complimenting our work, asking questions about sessions, and taking promo cards. And while I manned the booth, Boy did his working-the-room magic and shot plenty of event photos. We met some great people and I'll definitely be following up with them!

(speaking of which: apologies if I'm annoying anyone who's follow our photography biz Twitter today. I'm just feeling good and wanting to spread some love and happy mojo around for local businesses we met yesterday!)

The next few days are going to be BANANAS. Wushu performance rehearsal tonight, new 'do and more wushu rehearsal tomorrow, Help Portrait and wushu performance (and possible visit to winery) on Saturday, doctor's appointment and Bishops ad shoot on Monday.

Sunday is my only free day, and I may very well spend it sleeping. XD Srsly. How did my calendar explode like this? Well, at least it's pretty smooth sailing after Monday. :)

mood: cold
The frigid temperature in my office is really screwing with my mood. I didn't even realize how bad it was until just now, when I ran into [info]phasmaphobic in the lobby and I basically mumbled two words and wandered off rudely.

Seriously, though. Everyone else I've talked to in the Org agrees that it's freezing, so I know it's not just me. And I've been sitting in my office, wearing my winter coat and gloves for the ENTIRE DAY today, and I am STILL cold. BLAAAGGGHHH. This place is trying to kill me!

I am DEFINITELY working from home tomorrow. I usually don't, because I wouldn't get anything done. But, I'm getting so little done today, due to freezing my ass off and going to the bathroom every 5 minutes just for the excuse to walk around and get my blood moving, that it would make absolutely no difference. So I might as well be comfortable!

This is ridiculous.

P.S. Oh, and this monster headache? Also not helping. ;_;

mood: rushed
So I'm having another wushu demo, this Saturday at 2pm! This time it's A) Free, and B) at my wushu school on NW 17th and Pettygrove.

And I will actually stay for the whole performance and talk to people after! So yeah, in case you missed the last one and want to come see. It's family-friendly and all that, if you have kidlets. And maybe we can get a late lunch or coffee after.

I may also be rolling out my sleeveless purple silks, so I can flash my guns, hurhurhur! They're looking a bit squishier since Halloween, but eh, not sweating it. I haven't larded up like I did *last* Fall, so I consider that an achievement.

Besides, there's the fact that I am most likely appearing in the new Bishops ads for 2010, and the camera adds 10 pounds, so that? Is much more worth fretting over than having slightly-less-ripped delts at my wushu demo. AAAAAAAHHHH

On the plus side, they are putting the crazyhair on me this Friday! I have no idea what it will look like; I do have some input in what they do, but I have a ton of conflicting ideas. Well, however it turns out, hopefully Ma won't have a heart attack upon seeing it when I go home for Christmas. ;)

Okay, time to go do a Jillian DVD or something. I've got the antsy energies.

I'm being a jerk today
  skeets

mood: annoyed
One of Mark's big things is that he'll leave passive-aggressive notes on the whiteboard, about people not pitching in with the kitchen maintenance and cleaning up their stuff. Such as recently, when there were a few dishes in one of the sinks (which I suspect Boy left there), and I guess he washed them. But, then he left a note on the board to the effect of: "I did your dishes-Mark (all?)"

He apparently doesn't understand that he's the only one keeping score around here, and he's not even doing a very good job of it, because:

A) Maybe half of us actually use the kitchen with any regularity, and those who do (such as Andy or myself) clean up their own messes consistently, and

B) Mark makes THE biggest kitchen/dining area messes out of anyone in the household, and then leaves them out overnight, or even through the following day, without cleaning them up!

Anyhoo, last night he had some girl over and made this big fancy dinner. Sure enough, this morning I came downstairs, ready to have myself a nice breakfast, and he'd left a brick of white chocolate on the dining table, and white chocolate shavings ALL OVER THE TABLE.

So, I cleaned them up, and left him a little note:

"I cleaned up your white chocolate shavings."

Because I'm being a jerk today. :D
